Now that I’ve shared a few of my interests, I figured it’s time I officially introduce myself! In this post, get to know me and why I returned to blogging.
10 quick and random facts about me:
- I’ve lived in Chicago for 12 years now, but came here from Los Angeles, and grew up in the Philippines.
- I have one brother and one sister, and they’re my bestest friends in the world. I’m sure you’ll see more of them in my future posts!
- I fell in love with makeup as a child, watching my mom intently as she got ready for work. One of my favorite memories is putting mascara on my brows when she left one day, and I was scrambling to get it off before anyone can find me.
- I love food…so much. I love to cook! When I used to go out regularly, I often try new cuisines at restaurants. Now that I love being home, I try them in my kitchen!
- If I’m not drinking bourbon (on the rocks or in cocktails), I’m having a glass of red.
- I *can* taste the difference in bottled waters. (I think Arrowhead and Ice Mountain are disgusting).
- Coke > Pepsi any day. If they ask me if Pepsi is okay, I’ll have a water instead and it’s very likely I won’t be dining at that place again!!
- My favorite South Park character is Butters.
- I own close to 200 nail polishes, and I paint my nails myself once a week. I only get mani-pedis for special occasions, or when my feet need help. Haha.
- I can fall asleep to the sound of someone typing on a keyboard…
Why I started blogging again..

Yes, I used to blog so much! I used to have 2-3 blogs at the same time since I was 12. I always had one for my personal teenage thoughts, one to write about each and every Lakers game (I rarely missed them in high school!), and there’s was usually a third one on whatever it was I was into at that phase in my life.
Long story short, one of the reasons I stopped blogging was because moving to a new city was overwhelming to my 18-year-old self. I didn’t even know it then. While that could have been the perfect opportunity to write about my new experiences as a young adult, new places I was learning about, and new people I was meeting, I was so overwhelmed living it and navigating being an independent young adult living in a new state (in a new country I just moved to 4 years prior!). I didn’t have my support system with me, and my friends were 3,000 miles away. As I was getting to know more about myself, there was also the fear of what certain people thought about me and how I was becoming more me. I found myself being the Kane they wanted me to be.
I definitely wasn’t trying to fake myself into friendships, it wasn’t about that. It was moments like not wearing what I wanna wear because people would say I could “never pull it off,” or that it was “too edgy” for me. Moments like the collective “we” just didn’t do “that.” I will have to give credit to the people who empowered me too. The same people who hyped me up are the same people I still have around and are excited that I’m doing what I’m doing now. (You know who you are!) That journey lasted years. I realized I was so focused on making sure people were “okay” with my choices, but I was not expressing myself. Why dim your own light?

I still continue to work on that everyday. It’s not easy being yourself when it’s met with criticism, judgement, and being misunderstood. Part of my progress is embracing what I actually love and being excited to share it with everyone around me again. While I’ve been back and forth about how I wanted to do that for a couple years now, I’m back!
This blog is meant to be my creative outlet, but also a resource and a source of inspiration. A resource for all things life, but especially beauty and style – two things I’m really into! I also hope this inspires you in some way. It could be to cook a certain recipe I recently tried, try a new lipstick shade that’s out of your comfort zone, or it could be as important as coming out of your shell too – just like I did. I truly enjoy sharing my life and interests with others, so please let me know what you’d like to see on this blog! This is for you as much as it is for me.
With that short blog post turned cheesy speech, let’s get back to regular programming. See you in my next post!
